Laptop apparently came with a temporary version of MSOffice. Can now no longer write in word documents. Laptop is an arse. Now I have to go work upstairs on the computer that never quite connects to the internet, which I guess is probably good for productivity in terms of bimbling on internets time, but not so good for productivity in that I am very sleepy - had to take painkillers in the middle of the night last night for aching muscles - and the other computer is way too temptingly close to my bed. Boo.

Have you tried downloading OpenOffice? (Or NeoOffice, if you're on a Mac) Does pretty much everything that Word does, but it has the benefits of being a) free and b) not made by Microsoft.

May I recommend OpenOffice? It's free, nearly identical to MSOffice, and saves files in Office formats. I've been using it for years. :)

openoffice.org is amazingly good as a word processor (I assume the spreadsheet and other programs in the suite are also good) plus you can save in many, many, MSWord type formats, as well as export to pdf etc etc. Free, too :)
