Since this worked so well for [livejournal.com profile] unamaga last night, I'm gonna give it a go.

Sadly, it's not in the aid of fic writing, but rather essay relaxation; I could really do with some instrumental, non-distracty, soothy music. Classical is awesome, non-classical equally so; my requirement is basically that it not have words to distract me.

Anyone have anything that fits that description that they could upload for me?

I've just realised that I never said thank you for this, I'm so sorry! It was awesome of you, and I love the music. :D

You've probably already picked through all the comments on my post, but I did get a few songs sent to me through AIM and such, so:

Le Serpent Rouge.zip (http://anonym.to/http://www.mediafire.com/?lj1ycjcmz29)
This is kind of...strange. I like it, definitely, but sometimes it also makes me think of people throwing pies at one another.

Phoenix - North (http://anonym.to/http://www.mediafire.com/?t1mnymt0jyc)
The Piano OST - The Heart Asks Pleasure First (http://anonym.to/http://www.mediafire.com/?drdreezajma)
Andrew Bird - Glass of Water (http://anonym.to/http://www.mediafire.com/?ewthdzzuxgr)
Andrew Bird - Skin (http://anonym.to/http://www.mediafire.com/?wzdvtuzzjgd)

I just made a post. Though I think the only things on there that qualify as soothing are the Andantino part of the Piano Concerto #1 and Claire de Lune. Still, classical music? ♥

Mendelssohn's Concerto in E Minor (http://www.sendspace.com/file/se1mop). Because of String Theory. :D

Nocturne 19 in E Minor, Chopin (http://www.sendspace.com/file/mywxhc). My most-played piece of music.

Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 17 in D Minor, Allegretto (http://www.sendspace.com/file/gy5xdo). Because this is the kind of insanely challenging piece I can see Rodney playing if he still played. It sounds as if it should be played by two people, but it's not. :D

Hee, thank you! I already had the Mendelssohn because my mum got sick of the post-it notes I had everywhere to buy it. She used to come into my room and scribble on my post-its, so what she made of stuff like RODNEY POV ON PHONE SEX I really don't want to know.

not about music, but moms and fan fic

About 12 years ago, my mom stumbled across my porny fanfic online while testing a search system for the library she worked at. She swears she's never read any of my porn, although she did read a couple of non-porny parodies and liked them. When I got a piece of original erotica published she was very happy for me and again, never read it.

In fact the only negative thing she's ever said about my writing is that she wishes I'd write more stuff she felt comfortable reading.

My mum once wrote me a letter, a long time ago, and included with it was an article about fanfic (which she knew I wrote) and it mentioned slash. She phoned me when I'd received it and was talking about it "there's this thing called slash, have you heard of it? Like when Sam the hobbit is in love with that other one with the really blue eyes."

There was a long pause as I tried to keep my hysterical laughter as quiet as possible, and then she said "you probably write it, don't you?"
