I know I should be angry, or even annoyed and indignant, but all I can think is that I have a rather nice pair that no one has ever touched, let alone asked to touch.

If you want them touched you should be able to find someone you'd like to touch them and ask them. But no, that's now how life works.

Thing is, sweet? No one would be touching your breasts at the conventions. Not that there is anything wrong with your breasts, just that they would be breasts first, and incidentally attached to you second. And that's not particularly affirming. Trust me on this.

I have a suspicion that at the sort of con and with the sort of group of people he seems to be a part of - this is less of an issue than it might be. but in the wider world - yeah, I get the enraged people's points. I'm not one of them, but I get it.

it's not even all the idea itself, but the way that it was written about. It seems like someone with such a huge audience should take more responsibility to consider how this could be read and think about writing to take account of that.

Here's the thing about it all: now, at every con, every man is going to be looking at every woman's chest to see if she's opt-in and I know every man's going to be looking at every woman's tits anyhow because they're dogs and can't help themselves, but the whole thing is just pretty disgusting. I read the original post earlier today and it's been on my mind ever since and I wish it was a joke, but it isn't. The only logical response to the question would be "No, but you can kiss my ass before I lay my vengeance upon you, motherfucker." There's no way that women -- no matter how open to being fondled by however many strangers -- should even be in a situation where a question like that is asked. It's horrendous and disgusting, and there's nothing innocent, non-objectifying, or non-sexual about the question.

Want to see a woman's naked chest? Go to a goddamn art museum. Want to touch one? Get over yourself and find someone to love in a mature and adult way. Ask me or my daughter at a convention if you can touch our breasts, and I will take out my gun and shoot you. Well, not you. You could ask. But some random stranger could not. I'd have his ass on the ground so fast he'd wish he'd never been born... especially if he used the "bodies are bodies" defense. Get back to your juvenile fantasies, buddy, and show a little respect.

Maybe he's learned there are just some things better left unsaid.

Breasts are great. The touching of breasts can be great (there's an "in the right hands" pun somewhere in there). That post was asinine. A lot of the conversation defending the post was even more asinine. The suggestion that the thing should become a movement goes beyond my ability to adjective (she verbed).
