I am failing at writing semi-cheating. (WE WERE ON A BREAK!) Therefore meme of a sort - ask me anything, and all that. Come start discussions at me. Conversation is awesome!
The RP thing we're gonna have to do another day - I'm sorry, mate, but if we go off on one on that we'll keep going for hours, and I'm determined to write Rodney being a complete ASS tonight. Possibly tomorrow?
That's cool, trust me. I'm just hyperactive at work today, even though NOBODY IS FREAKING HERE. What I love is that the lowest paid people get the least amount of vacation days, so they are here when the bosses aren't, but the bosses are the ones that give out the assignments to work on, so when the bosses aren't there there's nothing to do, but you're paying the underlings to be there anyway.
PB is for Siuan Sanche, Moiraine's best friend in the Wheel of Time series.
I adore honeysuckle too, it reminds me of being young. I also love mint & tea tree, and sandalwood. Smell is one of the most incredibly evocative things, it's awesome.
It's always fascinating to me how scent is connected to memory. I love smelling something and then having a memory surface of something I haven't thought about in years.
Music can do that to me too, but it doesn't bring up memories so much as emotions.
Music tends to have more of an effect on me the further away the memory is, weirdly. Most of the songs I listen to now have no associations, because they are just songs. But if I stumble across Stereo MCs or something then suddenly I'm in the back of my mum's car on my way to junior operatics again. XD
Yes! There are some songs that are so specific, that I can only listen to at certain times of day, etc.
Dave Mathews "Ants Marching" is late at night, getting driven home from rehearsal by 2 senior guys i had a crush on, the smell of cigarettes and singing from the front seat.
1. I think probably Small Gods by Terry Pratchett because it taught me that Fantasy wasn't all orcs and mighty warriors and cliches and muscles. I felt completely alienated by the Fantasy and Sci-Fi that I read, and yet I still kept reading it because I knew there should be something in there for me but I couldn't find it. And then I read some Discworld and it just clicked. Fantasy that was also incredibly real, that had characters I could identify and recognise, characters that were just as bemused by life as I was. It wasn't about Going On Quests and Saving The Day, it was about life happening around you almost too fast to keep up with and attempting to keep up and make the best decisions you could at the time. This is why Vimes has become my favourite character in the series.
2. Gender performance. Hmm. That's actually a really good way of putting it, because I do very much make a performance of it at times. I'm way more comfortable with my sexuality than I used to be - I'm bi, in case you were wondering, but with a definitely female tilt - and since I've been more comfortable I've actually allowed myself to be more female in the way I dress and the interests I have. I still have moments where I aggressively challenge the norms that most people abide by, though, because it pisses me off something rotten when people make assumptions about me. It totally backfires though, when people then look to me to perform in this certain way and expect it of me - like drinking a lot, talking about sex and porn, that sort of thing - and it turns into... it makes me into someone that I don't particularly like. So I'm feeling my way into a new role now, not really gender based but more trying to show who I am. I challenge people making assumptions about me more directly, and try to teach them a little about the way they are coming across while I do it. It sounds completely sanctimonious and holier than thou to say that, I know, but there's genuinely no danger of my ever thinking I'm better than anyone. I have self esteem issues out the wazoo. :D
I have no idea if that answered your question, by the way.

I'm far too boring to identify with characters, I find - I just tend to find the ones I want to be. :D
