Things I have been thinking about today:

Patrick Stump has an incredibly gorgeous voice. This is no surprise, I know, but it really is lovely, and he's always involved in really interesting projects, too. Definitely a guy worth keeping an eye on, and I cannot stop listening to that Timbaland song featuring Fall Out Boy. However, I prefer Panic to Fall Out Boy, and indeed to any other bandom band I've listened to.

See, when you're listening to most of the music it's... pretty obvious. By the second run through you're singing along no trouble, because there's really never all that much question about where the song's going to go. With PatD, there's always something unpredictable about the rhythm or the run of notes so it takes a little more concentration or focus to get what they're doing. Everything sounds right, but a more interesting right than the one you might have come up with. They also have that Smiths thing of continuing to sing when you feel the line should have ended, which I've always liked. So yeah - my slightly more intellectual reasoning than OMG JON WALKER IS SO AWESOME!!!!111!!

(He totally is.)

Third thing - I cannot watch an entire episode of Smallville. I feel bad about it because I know people do like it, but... Tom Welling saps all life from the screen. The only things worth watching on that show seem to be the Luthors, and I don't do incest. I would really really like to hear what people like about it because I'm genuinely bemused.

I'm having massive trouble spelling today. No matter how I reformulate words on the screen they don't seem to make sense. Pool and ale is clearly a bad combination for me and I shall keep that in mind.

Finally - I'm... edging closer to formulating a plan for next year. It has the potential to be interesting.

That's what I wanna know too. I watched the very first few episodes on tv long ago since it was new and hip and advertised everywhere (and Roswell had just ended) but it didn't feel right. So I stopped.
Now I try to watch the 4th season for Jensen Ackles but I really have to force myself. I mean he's great and I watched Devour for him, but almost in all his scenes there's also Lana Lang and she's even worse than Clark himself.

I think this another show in which the fanfic is way more exciting than the canon. You don't need to watch the actors there. And you can enjoy killing Lana ;)

I got so bored trying to watch it. It's so strange because it really ought to be the kind of thing I like, but the lead character has absolutely no charisma, and it's totally distracting when actors are clearly too old for the situation they're in, too.

I'd rather read fic about John and Rodney, to be honest. :D And for the record, I'm nearly finished with the fic you made that gorgeous cover for, sorry it's been so long!

Fall Out Boy is weird for me in that it's such a big part of fandom and yet... I... don't particularly like the music? I can't even pinpoint what's wrong with it because the playing is fine, Patrick's voice is great and I like the lyrics a lot. Just something about the way they're all put together leaves me sort of cold. I think honestly Pete should have been a poet because music doesn't really add much to his words. Maybe the rhythms are kind of awkward because they need to wrap music around the lines, but they don't want to CHANGE the lines because they're AWESOME, so they end up with melodies that just don't quite work.

...which can also be seen in Panic's early stuff, which makes sense because they were big fanboys :P

My favourite bandom band is MCR because Gerard puts a lot of emotion into his singing. The Dresden Dolls are the only ones I like better but they don't have much presence in fandom, woe :(

Speaking of the Dresden Dolls did you know Amanda Palmer is collaborating with Neil Gaiman RIGHT NOW? I don't understand how the universe did not implode from sheer awesome.

Fall Out Boy are just... kinda predictable. It could be any band, really. I think the thing about Pete being a poet is an awesome thought, but... I like that this way his awesome lyrics van get to more people, I guess?

MCR are totally awesome, and within bandom I pretty much read Panic pairings and Frank/Gerard, with bonus points for fics in which someone looks after Mikey Way and makes him happy. ;D

Aww, happy Mikey. I read just about anything honestly :P but yeah, Frank/Gerard is a favourite, as is any Panic combo including GSF ([livejournal.com profile] impertinence is doing her level best to convert her flist to MCR GSF but I WILL RESIST) and cracky William/Gabe stories. Cobra and TAI... are always great for the hilarity.

Mind you, any random pairing is good when done right. I'm like, what? I just read a... Brendon/Shia Labeouf!?

I thought you did rather well with the pool and ale combination actually. But I suppose you did drink double my intake :p

Happy plotting.
