I DO NOT LIKE THE DARK CRYSTAL. I watched it as a kid and although the Skeksis were cool, the Gelflings creeped me the hell out. Disturbing looking and creepy in an ethereal, childlike, wrong, monkey-elf kinda way. Gyah!

Got that prompt once--the gelfling prompt. Drew a really terrible picture of Teyla the gelfling. Wish I had, you know, seen the film at that point.

There's also a line in a story by ltlj where John gets turned into a feral elf and wakes up to various Atlantis team members discussing just WHICH fictional elfin creature his ears most resemble. Elf? Vulcan? Gelfling?
