Fairy Tales
1,000 words
ane imagines: a carelessly dropped harebell cup, delicately striped, but infinitely larger and tethered to the ground. Striped in suncloud-white and the bright blaring brash colour of poppies, not the more sedate red of roses and her mother’s dresses. There’s no place for sedate, she’s convinced, and no place for mothers, either.
Piracy in the UK
1,000 words
The wind chimes he tied to the angle of the roof tinkle softly in the breeze stirred by their passage and stirring their passage both. If there’s one thing about an enterprise like this, it’s momentum, and there’s something refreshing about constant, unending, perpetual motion. Not in the Newtonian sense, of course, not likely to be able to harness this to power much more’n they use, but in the sense that it’d be a bugger and three quarters to get this thing moving again so it’s best to keep eyes and ears and most of the other orifices open, it’s best to keep drifting slowly on.
Hydrophobia
1,000 words
It teaches a lesson, they say, and the lesson it teaches is that in the past at least the Council were more honest about their Justice.
McShep:
Breaking the Silence
275 words
"You know," he says, his lips brushing against John's who, although he's reluctant to move closer, apparently also won't move away, "when I said 'whatever you want' I didn't think I was agreeing to slow death by frustration."
April Fools
439 words
That was pretty much all John's restraint could take. Rodney was pressed up against the door, against John, before John'd even made a conscious decision about moving.
Paper Hearts
552 words
"Got a secret for you, McKay." John is leaning closer, and Rodney can't help but tilt his chin up a little, can't supress the shudder that runs through him as John's low voice speaks directly into his ear. "I am not left-handed."
Just Because
371 words
Right now, a softly plucked guitar is underscoring a song about making the perfect chilli, apparently.
More Than That
647 words
John stiffened fast and sharp, his eyes going hard, but Rodney pushed him back against the wall before he could make the slightest effort at pulling away.
"Oh please; if you're the princess then I'm the terrifying dowager queen, with unfortunate hair and a worrying love of power."
Total Words: 5284
Next month I will write more. :D
