Feb. 11th, 2009 08:59 pmOkay, so there's this due South story where Ray's talking about Fraser singing songs about people's loves leaving them for the Scottish, right? And other songs, tales about people emigrating to Canada with their ain true love and shit, and I've been listening to Stan Rogers - Northwest Passage and Witch of the Westmorland - and Cold Missouri Waters and Twin Rocks, Oregon by Shawn Mullins, and Roads to Moscow, and, god help me, the frakkin' Robert McKenzie. I guess The Ocean by Peter Mulvey'd count in there, too. And now I want more.
Does anyone have any more long and tragic and folkified story-songs they could upload for me? Tragicness optional, stories not.
And if anyone wants any of those mentioned above, lemme know. :D
(Also, now I wanna do one of those lyric-meme type guess-the-fanfic memes for dS.)

Date: 2009-02-11 09:53 pm (UTC)Contains Joanna Newsom's Ys (simultaneously some of the most authentic and most deeply hallucinatory story ballads around), plus a track each from Neko Case, the Mountain Goats, the Raconteurs, Ryan Adams, Songs: Ohia, and Sufjan Stevens. Some of them push the definition a bit, but I thought you might like them anyway.
Also, ask around and see if someone can upload the Decemberists' version of The Tain for you.
Once you've nabbed the music, mind taking down the folder for me? I try to minimize how long I leave random uploads out there. Delete link is: http://www.sendspace.com/delete/j6nqcx/4ed9190017cd965fd1ae20ead24cdb40
