So there's a part of me that is totally aware that I am not built for advanced academic endeavours, and that I am incapable of deadlines, and that a Masters would be the worst possible choice for me in the history of ever... and then there's the part of me that sees papers titled things like Evolving Communication Through the Inference of Meaning, or Why talk: an Adaptationist Approach and just starts dribbling.

Have you thought about doing it part time? That would give you more time for everything and it would be less expensive - also you could work at the same time.

I'm not good enough at my job to consider that yet; planning lessons takes up pretty much all of my free time, so I can't spare any to study. :/

I have enough friends that are pursuing advanced degrees that whenever I get that itch to go back (and it comes and goes) I just remember that I don't want to do homework ever again. :))

God, I have been having that so much lately - I have been considering maybe doing stuff through the OU, but then I'm like... okay, that SOUNDS awesome, but in reality I am not an academic at all and would flail out of it so hard!

The part of me that's poking is reminding me that this is the one module that I loved and actually worked hardest on, and I got 69% for it which is, like, 1% off a first... BUT I AM NOT GOOD AT THIS. Ah well. I steal all the dissertations and read, regardless.

Two words: Open University. You can (I think) do a modular masters, you can take as long as you want to finish it, the online support system is excellent, and they are consistanly rated one of the best unis in the country.

Problem with the OU is that the courses are limited; evolution of human communication is kind of a specialised subject still, and when I did a module on it in 2004/5, it was still new enough that we had pretty much all of the publications there were as research materials.
