I'm so glad it's two days until half term, because it's getting more and more difficult to get out of bed in the mornings. I keep sitting at my computer for half an hour or so to wake up, and nearly dropping off every time I blinking blink. Ah well - school play has removed the need to plan a lesson for today, so I'll spend period 1 snoozing quietly in the back of the hall instead. And then I'm viewing a flat tonight - gonna have to make a list of questions to ask, because I've always had someone to rely on when I've done this before.

What should I be asking?

PS helplessly in love with misha collins. Send help. And ponies.

I find that the heating/circulation is one of the biggest factors in whether I find a place pleasant, so I look for somewhere that seals off well but where my bedroom has windows on two different walls so I can get airflow in the summer. Find out what kind of heating system there is (forced air, radiator, etc.), what fuels it (here they can be electricity, gas, or oil -- not sure if that's the same elsewhere), and what the heating bills were last winter (if you're the one paying). Get a list of all the utilities you'd cover and what the average cost is. Ask if other tenants have mentioned being able to hear what's happening in the other units. If it's on the ground floor or the floor above it, I'd double-check whether there have ever been ant problems. Find out what the landlord wants up-front and whether any of that deposit is refundable.
