May. 23rd, 2009 07:19 pmToday I have changed my dreamwidth layout, tidied my room a little, baked myself in the gorgeous sunshine, read some Raymond Chandler, performed the mental gymnastics that my (prescribed!) self-esteem self-help book has required, gone shopping for ingredients and made some kind of Aztec inspired dish with tofu and chocolate and chili and cumin and all sorts in. It tastes and smells gorgeous, for the record. I also attempted to record a podfic but I woke up coldy and sore throaty and I sounded like a twit, so that was pretty much a wasted hour.
I've got the next week off for half term and I don't really have any plans apart from watching mad people chase cheese down a hill; my finances are going to be seriously tight over the next couple of months, assuming I get the flat I want. I've paid the £200 holding fee, but I'm a little concerned about my credit check - you guys know how bad I am with finances, and in my uni years it did get a little out of control, once or twice. Fingers crossed, eh? Anyway, my plans this week involve nothing more than getting my work done and baking myself in the garden; I'd plan to write but then I'd only punish myself for it if I failed, so it's not really worth it. If I'm inspired I'll write, if not I won't. I'm going to try and start a physical diary, too, because I put absurd pressure on any writing I do that's for an audience, and I write everything creative to be put on LJ. I need to create a space in which I'm writing for no one except myself and the universe so that the act of writing isn't one that stresses me out, and that'll hopefully up my creative potential a little.
Restarting BSG season 4 tonight with the Smaller one - we tried watching it before but we were both more than a little tiddly and our brains audibly snapped. Second time lucky or something, aye?

Love the layout, btw.
