Know what doesn't help? It doesn't help not having anything I can eat in the house. I had a handful of cornflakes, but I'm still totally getting the hang of this wheat intolerance thing and I'm not used to snacking on things that aren't, like, toast and stuff. It doesn't help that the bulk of my diet is wheat-based stuff - anyone have any advice on stuff I can eat? XD

I'm going to stop whining now through application of Blood Sugar. HOM NOM NOM. (We'll ignore that it's couscous which I'm not supposed to eat ¬_¬)

Cheese and fruit are the snacky things that come immediately to mind - I am not even a big fruit person, but I love dried cranberries as a snack! Also, nuts. Fruits & veggies to dip in peanut butter, fruits & veggies to dip in cream cheese . . .

Yeah, I know, we totally need to buy more fruit. :D I've been nomming through cashew nuts like anything recently, but it doesn't help that I also have a recently discovered mouth-burny reaction to hazelnuts, brazil nuts and walnuts. Also cherries and overripe pears.

D:

I swear, when I was young I was the kid that everyone's parents LOVED because I would just eat anything.

D:! Life without walnuts is a sadness. :(

But fruit! There are lots of non-cherry and non-pear fruits that are made of deliciousness.

Glark, that sucks.

A gluten-intolerant person I know loves to snack on hummus-on-rice-cakes and mini-carrots, but YMMV.

I tend to nibble on a mixture of sunflower and pumpkin seeds, occasionally with a bit of dried fruit (raisins, currents etc) thrown in. But that's nibbles rather than snacks...

Fruit, nuts, cheese, milk... hummus is a lifesaver, plus baked beans and pulses (kidney beans, cannellini beans - they can be made into dips and stuff, chickpeas of course). If you can have oatmeal (seems to vary from person to person), porridge is good, plus potato cakes made from mashed potato and fine Scottish style oatmeal (not porridge oats).

Seconding (thirding?) the hummus idea, and in a pinch you can even make yourself some with some mooshed up garbanzo beans (or white beans are tasty spread on stuff too) and lemon juice and salt.

String cheese (or just sliced cheese) is good too. Popcorn? Nuts too.
