I haven't watched NCIS:LA yet. Not sure why... possibly 'cos I'm leery of new spin-offs after the whole REPLACEMENT of Atlantis dealio. Not that I'm still bitter or anything.
Ziva doesn't flinch. Mossad-trained agents, even if they are no longer Mossad and uncertain of what it is they actually are, do not flinch.
But hearing that much unholy glee in Tony's voice is terrifying on a level for which she has no comparison.
"Did I hear correctly?" Tony asks, leaning forward with a grin that threatens to split his face in two. He is starting to look his age instead of the boyishly beautiful man who still prances and bounces like he's a child still. It suits him, though. "You're a Probie now?"
Ziva does her best not smile; she can hear his real question underneath. "Do not forget, please, that I know many ways in which to kill someone for annoying me."
"Probie," is all Tony says, savoring the word like wine. Like he is contemplating all the many ways he is going to make her life abominable over the next few weeks.
She can't wait until he tries it.
"As the name suggests, I am on probation until I prove myself," she says, reading the document Gibbs had slapped to her desk. "However... there is no end date for when this probationary time ends?"
"That's just legalese, don't worry about it." Oddly, it is Tony who responds first. His smile has softened to the genuine pleasure he so often hides, eyes sparkling as he reassures her. He does like playing the gentlemen when it suits him.
It is odd, however, since it should be McGee who will inform her of the particulars behind this beaurocratic phrase. Ziva glances over at him, and yes, there he goes, offering her one of his wide, puppy-smiles that light up his entire face until he seems almost to glow with pleasure, explaining the particulars of what her probation should mean, but probably won't because she's Ziva.
And all the while, he's darting glances at Tony.
Who occasionally repeats the word probie.
Ah. Ziva smirks with her eyes, a trick only Gibbs ever seems to notice, because while it pains her to see Tim hurting for this, it affords her a weapon she will not hesitate to use.
After all, it helps both of them.
Smiling gaily at Tony, Ziva gathers up the folders they'd dumped on her desk and sets the first half gently on McGee's desk. "They are completed, Very Special Agent McGee."
The smile he gives her warms her almost as much as the glare Tony burns into her back.
But not nearly as much as the way he starts sneaking glances at McGee, confusion giving him a youth and vulnerability his childish antics never can.
Round one to me, Ziva thinks, certain that McGee will be claiming round two before the sun sets. Or maybe soon after. The days are getting shorter in this hemisphere.
Oh man. Yes, really. I could definitely go for Ziva/Gibbs. I also like Gibbs/Abby/Tony, however, so you should maybe not use me as a measuring stick. :D

I vote McGee becomes Probie.1 because he's geeky like that.
NCIS:LA was a bit of a snooze, but we're promised Abby (and possibly Ducky?) cameoing in the next ep.
