I loved that episode. But weirdly for SPN it was actually more for the story, for the MotW than it was for the Winchesters; Dean's starting to get a little too repetitive with his 'I can't do this without you' to the point that I worry he's going to start saying it to the Impala at the end of every episode - as true as that may be, it loses emotional resonance with every repetition, and my love of this show is very much about the emotional resonance (there's a hell of a lot I'm ignoring for it). The reason that Dean's declarations had such impact, at the beginning, was because it took so much to push him to the point of them; now they're practically two a penny, and calling each other girls because of it doesn't change that, it just puts my back up even further.

I loved the premise, however, and the almost practically honourable nature of Patrick; that he was so against cheating and was up front about his skills, that people could and did win against him, that he used his magic in the rewards but not the game. If I still role played I'd be painfully tempted by him, and I'm wondering if anyone else will like him enough to fic. (More than anything I want him to meet Gaiman's Shadow, and I'd write it if I thought it'd have any audience.)

Most of all, though, I was thoroughly heartstring tugged by the love story, the way it went barely told and the way my brain is filling in detail around the edges. And I loved the respect that was shown in the way that it ended, too.

Oh, and yes it'd be nice if we had Irishmen playing Irishmen, but it'd be nice if the English were played by Brits, too, not to mention disabled characters on screen. (This is not aimed at Bobby, obviously, since the story dictates, but you take my point I think.)

I was looking forward to this episode for a LONG time because of Chad Everett (YAY!) but I was also loving the resonance of Bobby's storyline and the Manwitch, too.

It grates, though, that the only decent witch so far's been male...

Who's Chad Everett? I don't think I know him from anything else.

You don't know Chad Everett? Dr. Joe Gannon from Medical Center, biggest heart-throb ever? :D He's the living example of Dean Winchester, in real life. That's why his casting was perfect.

I will be your audience! I can impersonate a large number of people and cheer and wave enthusiastically. With little flags and pom-poms and such. :D

I was hoping you would say you liked this episode for Patrick when I saw the "SPN 5.07" cut, because I got to the end and was like, "... Is it bad how much I like this guy?"

I also thought the love story was handled really well. I could even relate (relate??) to "I thought I was cut out for this, but I'm not."

Also, I thought of Low-Key when Patrick was introduced, so. :DDD

*cracking up*

I ended up watching SPN because of this week because of Lynne visiting, and we spent pretty much the whole ride back from Batya's house making bets with each other on how long it would take someone to decide to roleplay Patrick.
