Er - no surprises on the financial failboat front; I'm not sure I'll be able to afford to send the Christmas cards I promised, but those as signed up will still get something, probably a wonderful picture scrawled in paint and a link to a mix CD or something. My family are gonna get mostly handmade presents this year, which they will find unimpressive but there's not much I can do about it; birthday celebrations are unlikely but possible. The birthday tattoo I was gonna get myself on the other hand is definitely going to have to wait, and the birthday money'll go on bills and the like. Or possibly Christmas doobries. I should scout around for a Christmas pub job or something, but having the time to go home for a while is more important to me because as much as I love living on my own every now and again it is not quite adequate. Really looking forward to looking for an Actual and Proper teaching job next year; I'm not sure how well I'm going to cope with the stress of it, but the money'll be nice. XD The plan for today is to write, write, write some more, send off to betas, fiddle and write some more, and somewhere in there pop across to Schuh and return the trainers and bag I bought when I apparently misread my bank balance.

I'm actually in a thoroughly good mood at present, in spite of all the money worries; they've kind of become such a part of my life now that it takes a lot to actually get me shrieking. It was really good to visit [livejournal.com profile] bethan_b_bad and hook up with Bigger, although I drank too much (again, and I'm going to stop, again - let's see how well that turns out!) After I'd seen Bigger I caught up with [livejournal.com profile] bethan_b_bad again, post-Izzard-gig, hence the talking; there was stage door lurking going on, apparently, and he came out for a quick Q&A session because he said he didn't have time for signings and pictures and things.

I asked about the Olypmic opening ceremony and accidentally referred to the collective as English, so thank you for not killing me random welsh people! Eddie says, essentially, he reckons that it'll be awesome, that so long as we do it with energy and enthusiasm and don't let fundamental British cynicism and embarrassment get in the way it can be as frabjous as we want it to be. I am... well, cynical. XD

From a conversation had long ago with [livejournal.com profile] foreverdirt:

[livejournal.com profile] villainny: dude, I'm like preemptively embarrassed about the olympics opening ceremony, is that weird?

[livejournal.com profile] foreverdirt: *laughs* I think it's perfectly sensible.

[livejournal.com profile] villainny: It's either going to be crap or it's going to be not British. XD

[livejournal.com profile] foreverdirt: It can be both!

[livejournal.com profile] villainny: I'm trying to think what it should be, to satisfy me. And I'm just, like, envisioning everyone in the crowd letting out a slow, satisfied sigh at the cup of hot tea they've just been poured.

[livejournal.com profile] foreverdirt: Maybe a syncronised "Mustn't grumble"? Ten thousand people all putting
their umbrellas up at once?

[livejournal.com profile] villainny: And getting needlessly excited about custard creams.

[livejournal.com profile] foreverdirt: Mmm, custard creams...

That is a DELIGHTFUL idea. Submit it to the Olympics committee immediately.

aww, don't worry about the cards- you had fun, and that's what counts!

I'm joining you in the poor house I think. I've just been sternly told by my father that I MUST put the heating on, rather than pile on blankets, as this stops the condensation. And I've got to find air fare to oregon.

All that's budgeted for, but my laptop is held together with spit and electrical tape. I could really, really do with a new one. Sigh.

I hope your financial worries get better soon. But oh it seems like you had a wonderful time meeting Eddie Izzard, so I say money well spent :)

I honestly think the Olympics are the most enjoyable if it's not your country (and especially your city) that's hosting it.

-- Shit, I totally forgot you were meant to be stopping drinking when I suggested that bar. Um. Oops?

But it was fab seeing you again! Pity you couldn't keep the stuff. <33333

I has kept the shoes. :D The bag was silly in any case; it was cute, but I wouldn't really have been able to use it at work, so.

And I am responsible for my own drinking, totally; I just fail at sticking to resolutions.
