Dec. 15th, 2009 07:23 amLJ has annoyed me yet again, by apparently making the move to binary gender to make pitching advertising easier. There are so many things wrong there, better gone into by
bethbethbeth,
friendshipper and others. I have a DW account I've not really investigated yet, plus an AO3 account, and I'm just... pondering.
[Poll #1499192]
ETA: The issue is resolved, apparently it was an LJ bug and wasn't intended in that way. However the fact that it's so easy to believe is worrying in itself, y'know? I'm not sure I really have all that much confidence in LJ, any more.

Date: 2009-12-15 12:06 pm (UTC)(I chose 'Only have an LJ and I'm happy with it' which isn't quite true. I only have LJ and I've got no plans to get a DW account, but I'm not particularly happy with LJ right now.)

Date: 2009-12-15 12:58 pm (UTC)I've set my gender to unspecified while I still can, even though I'm mostly het, identify as the same gender as my body, etc. Hopefully loads others with do the same.
I don't have dreamwidth yet and it says I have to 'buy a code' if I want to join :-( But I'm tempted by the idea of DW more and more.

*nods* The fact that it got that far in the process (when it's posted to changelog, it's going to be actual code in the next push!) without anyone knowing about it is itself evidence of a major clusterbungle. Our user rep

Date: 2009-12-15 05:04 pm (UTC)(I also made another DW with the idea that I would start it as a separate, more blog-style journal. Since it has all of 0 posts on it... yeah, that plan went well!)
