Bigger is studying Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. She decided it would be more helpful and interesting to read it aloud, and asked for my help- we were reading around Caesar's death, and I took the parts of Caesar and Mark Anthony. Wow. Even read by the inexperienced, there's such grace to the language... I *love* the speech that Anthony gives, reiterating the fact that these are "honourable men" so that it becomes a mockery. I love the skill he uses to manipulate the crowd. I'll definitely be reading the rest of it tomorrow, when I've recovered from my hangover.

Bigger has seen both Alan Rickman and Sean Bean performing Shakespeare. But I'm not bitter.

My Latin teacher read us that funeral scene last week, when we were doing some things about Caesar's history. I loved it! Never actually read the play before, but that scene alone (where Anthony speaks at Caesar's funeral) was good enough to make me want to read the whole thing.
"You all did see that on the Lupercal
I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man."
