*despairing*

How do you - you personally, I actually want tips here - remember birthdays?

I suck so hard at it!

I keep one of those little "memorable dates" books and write down when their birthdays are. In recent years this has expanded to keeping a note of the names of friends' children, because it turns out I'm hopeless at remembering those, too.

That said, about two years ago I completely forgot the birthday of one of my closest offline friends, who I've known since we were both 4. Even the best systems aren't foolproof.

+1 for Google calendar. I do have quite a good memory for dates, but perhaps because of using Google calendar there's now so much in it that I'd not be able to remember it all.

+1 as well. I used to use a small paper calendar, but the reminders are very helpful.

I get a diary every year. Birthdays go in the calendar at the front as well as on the relevant date in the diary. And sometimes I write one-week reminders to myself (e.g. Mum's birthday next week) so that I have time to schedule present-buying.

1. Rely on LJ sending me notifications because if not, I am pants at it.

2. Google calendar. All my family bdays are programed in, with alerts to notify me a week in advance. It's the only way I can survive, and even then I sometimes space on them.

I have no tips. I am TERRIBLE about remembering birthdays. EVEN IF people call up the day before and go "[x's] birthday is tomorrow, don't forget to call them!" I will go "Of course I won't!" and then . . . still forget to call. Because I suck.

I write them on a birthday calendar that hangs in the loo. The place I'll surely be at least once a day ;)

Depends, but I always buy a paper calendar every year that I transfer all things of note from the year prior. Also, cel phone or email reminders, if I come across any during the year. On LJ, of course, I have them noted and emailed in settings.
