So today in humanities lesson the kids did a fake vote. Looking at the factors that might affect how you vote, then ticking the policies that were most important to them and closest to their interests - which would have been more interesting blind, but were separated under party headings - and then voting for the party that most closely matched their interests. But there were kids still arguing; say they'd ticked one interest under Conservative, two under Labour and five under Lib Dem, they were still going with the party that they liked the name of better, or the one their parents voted for, or what have you.

It kind of made my soul hurt a little.

Tomorrow? The whole frickin' school is going to Kew Gardens. This is simultaneously awesome and terrifying. If you need me, I will be hiding in a tree...

Yeah, that's a bit wince-worthy. Sadly not unexpected, but wince-worthy all the same. I do agree that a blind vote would've been much more interesting, though -- and perhaps a bit more influential to the outcome of the discussion.
