You know, with the inevitable comparisons, I wonder why Sherlock didn't do more to differentiate its music from the film.

*goes back to watching*

That is EXACTLY what TB and I said when we were watching it earlier. Not that I'm complaining.

*GIGGLING HELPLESSLY*

"Mrs Hudson has a phone."

"Yes, but she's downstairs. I tried shouting but she didn't hear."

"I was the other side of London."

"Well, there's no hurry."

God, I adore Sherlock Holmes.

I am pretty sure both were taking a bunch of their music queues from the Brett series *ICONS!* so maybe they both felt that was important enough to keep? And otherwise they are actually surprisingly differentiated...

also: YAY HOLMES.

I've got to say I hope the constant digs at intelligence fall off at least a little. I know it's a character thing, but it's also something I find deeply uncomfortable; surround myself with far too many bright people.

I've never watched the Brett series. I'm probably a Bad Fan. XD

I was more bothered by the magical disappearing disability bit myself, but I do think the intelligence jokes will fall off a bit; keep it up and he isn't just Holmes, he's a dick, you know? And they've made it very clear Watson is bright, so it would also disparage their name draw.

And the Brett is DELIGHTFUL. He does jumping jacks to illustrate the letter E and leaps over sofas and is gay gay gay gay. (God love Jeremy Brett.) There are a few weird adaptation choices and later episode suffer from Brett being very ill by the end, but there's several seasons worth of fabulous.

The magical disappearing disability I had been prepared for by reading someone else's commentary, so I was grimly resigned in advance.

David Arnold tweeted that he wrote the music about nine months before the film came out. A case of great minds riffing on the same theme.

Yeah, apparently it's Brett-Holmes related? I have not, in fact, seen the traditional adaptation. It probably makes me a bad person. XD
