to my knowledge, 1st base is kissing, 2nd is petting above the belt, 3rd is heavy petting, or petting below the belt & 'going home' is intercourse (or otherwise "going all the way")

It is my understanding that first base is kissing, second is hands-under-shirts, and third is hands-in-pants, with a home run being naked insertion of bits into orifices. :)

This is how I always considered it, too, with two slightly more specific additions:
- Hands do not go below the waist until after second base.
- At some point between second and third (shortstop, I suppose?), but not before, clothing can start to come off.

When I was in elementary school, I believe the general consensus was "First base = French kissing and touching over clothing, Second Base = hands under shirt, Third Base = handjobs or dry humping." By high school, however, I think most people I knew were using it to mean "First Base = hands under shirt, Second Base = handjobs or dry humping, Third Base = oral."

I always heard first base was kissing, second base was hands under shirts, third base was hands in the pants/dry humping, home was doin' it (ahaha, because it means you score. I JUST GOT THAT NOW). Oral sex doesn't enter in to the equation. But then, I'm from the (American) South...
