We left Gerald behind. The catacombs were larger than – and oh, the creepings and scuttlings in the darkness! It was Gerald’s idea in the first place, but we lost him somewhere beyond the lamp light and we couldn’t have stayed! Our hair stood on end when we heard that scraping shuffling step behind us, the almost-familiar malevolent chuckle that made me quite sick with fear. We feared for our lives and our sanity as we ran; it scratched at the slab that we lowered, and cried blood-curdlingly for help. You see we had no choice but to leave Gerald behind?
