My family are all huge fans of this show- and I picked up the 'Nikki Heat' books. OMG. The writers of the show, plus whoever ghost-wrote the books, are such geeks. (I play "catch the Firefly references" with both show and books.)
I'm tempted to ask where you're at in the series, 'Nny, because while he decidedly is an ass, you start seeing the not-so-ass-like awesome, too. :D (I love Castle and Alexis' interactions, f'rinstance.)
Oh, no, he's still totally an ass, but like he says he's a wiseass not a jackass, and I adore him for it. I absolutely adore their family dynamic, it is thoroughly wonderful and I am totally envious of all his toys. :D
Oh i hated this show at first! Then when i was having Attack of the Grumpy Pants one day i just completely fell in love with it and Ryan and Esposito's scene stealing antics <3 Now its my treat when i feel down :D
