I'm keeping the laptop, but there is the possibility of a Mac. What am I missing? Is it worth it?

3. Easy navigation - you don't have to remember where you left files, or have a particular system for file names, because things are all laid out in front of you and if you get stumped, you can just do a Google-style search.
4. Really excellent customer service and warranties. Especially in all the Apple stores I've been to. I've gone at least twice to replace a broken keyboard for my desktop machine (not because of shoddy construction, because I spilled something on it. Um, oops?) and both times they just cheerfully swapped me out a new one with no charge. I doubt this is standard policy but it does give you some idea of the level of niceness.
5. Free software updates, constantly.
6. With decent care, they last a long time.
I won't say there aren't drawbacks: it can be harder to find certain kinds of software, and if there isn't an Apple store near you it can be hard to find a place that does repairs. And they are definitely more expensive initially. But I'm typing this now on a machine I bought in 1998, which has never required any major repairs or anything that cost more than $100. So.
