May. 29th, 2012 07:45 pmSo today I had a job interview. One other candidate. Someone 6 years younger, less experience, babbles in interviews, got through 1/3 of her planned lesson. She got the job. Even worse, she got the job when sitting opposite me in a pub. So. Um. I have no fucking clue what to do with my life, since i evidently cannot do what i've spent so long training for.
Fuck.
Fuck.

Date: 2012-05-29 07:25 pm (UTC)But...you know your ability shines off you, right? We see it. If that school didn't see it today, and if you don't trust yourself to believe it today, trust us. We see it.
Whatever you end up doing in your life, which I hope will be many interesting things, you carry that with you. Nothing is wasted, in the end.

Date: 2012-05-29 08:41 pm (UTC)Then, to step back,do you really want to teach. I'm not saything because I think you CAN'T or as any judgement on you, but is the profession the same profession you felt called to when you started? Its ok to change your mind and it's definitely ok to take some of the skills and capabilities you have developed as a teacher and apply them to other things. You seem so sad and stressed out when you teach, and it's ok to recognise that and decide it isn't for you, it's not a failure.
