2012 In The Beginning:
Where did you ring in the New Year? At the house of a friend from my old job, watching Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes.
Who were you with? With the friend from my old job.
Did you kiss anyone at midnight? Nope.
Did you make any resolutions? To aim for things which make me long term happy rather than short term feelgood.
If so did you keep them? More so than last year, but over all no. I'm good with that.
2012 Your Love Life:
Single/Taken? Single.
How many relationships did you have? I don't have relationships and I won't until I allow myself, which involves unpicking a multitude of stitches in my mental patchwork. I'm working on it and I hope to make some progress this year.
How many break ups? None, obviously.
How many people did you kiss? I have no clue. Probably one or two?
2012 Friends and Enemies:
Did you meet any new friends this year? I did! And I like them.
Did any of your friendships end? I don't really end friendships, they just kind of drift into obscurity. I started a new job, so yes. Some of them I'm sad about.
Did you dislike anyone? My ex head of department. Several members of staff at my old job. Idjits.
Did you get into any fights? I don't fight, I disagree with someone and then whimper in a corner until they prove they still like me.
Did you make any new enemies? Nope, no one really feels that strongly about me.
Did you resolve any fights? I got better about not whimpering about them. And sticking to my guns.
Who was your closest friend? Physically or non? I don't know how to answer this question.
2012 The Holidays:
Did you have a Valentine? Not since I was about 15.
Did the Easter bunny visit you? Nope. I buy discounted chocolate for myself. I think this was the first year I didn't particularly care, though.
Did watch fireworks on the4th of July the 5th of November? Nope. Except for from my window.
Did you dress up for Halloween? No, I stayed in with skull candle holders and Hocus Pocus.
What did you do for Thanksgiving? Keeping Del's answer:
Wow another meme designed solely for Americans (poss. also Canadians) how nice. NO, I DID NOTHING FOR A HOLIDAY THAT ISN'T CELEBRATED IN MY CULTURE. AND NEXT YEAR I'M GOING TO THE DIWALI CELEBRATIONS IN TRAFALGAR SQUARE BECAUSE DIWALI IS MUCH BETTER THAN THANKSGIVING AND IF I'M APPROPRIATING FROM OTHER CULTURES I WANT TO DO IT FROM CULTURES I ACTUALLY LIKE. <--- CAN I COME? :D We celebrated Diwali at my first school and it was my favourite holiday.
Did you make a list of gifts for the holidays? Yes. It went like this:
cheap running shoes size six
perfume (paco rabanne elle or dkny be fresh)
hair dryer
bronze/brown/gold makeup
jewellery (bronze/silver/old gold colours, steampunky/quirky)
urban fantasy or supernatural crime books
good music
nailvarnish
gloves
scarves
thick boot socks
tea
Did you receive what you wanted? The majority, plus a bunch of other things from wonderful friends, plus a ridiculous number of postcards that I will make a proper thank you post for but THANK YOU.
2012 Your Birthday:
How old did you turn? 30.
Did you have a cake? I did! I took a Colin Caterpillar cake into work for colleagues, and had a gluten free pear, parsnip and salted caramel cake for me. I bought it because
catwalksalone reminded me that I was allowed one and it was bloody delicious.
What did you do for your birthday? On my birthday I went to work and then wandered down to Covent Garden and bought some chocolate and tea to send to my sister who was sad.
Did you have a party? Yes! With
apiphile and lots of other lovely people. It was loads of fun, but I was a bit frustrated herding drunks on the way home. XD
Did you get any presents? I did! Really nice ones, I was happy. :D
2012 Memories and Accomplishments:
Funniest Memory? I don't have a memory. I seriously cannot remember what happened yesterday.
Saddest Memory? Nope.
Most Embarrassing Memory? Nada.
Best Accomplishment? MOVING TO LONDON. Moving is nothing, but the actual practicalities - including getting in a van for a 2+ hours drive with two blokes I didn't know - impressed me.
2012 Favorites:
Favorite TV shows? I'm quite enjoying Elementary, but I don't really watch TV. Oh, and Teen Wolf, embarrassingly.
Favorite songs? I like Alt-J's album a lot.
Favorite bands? Amon Tobin pretty much forever.
Favorite food? halloumi.
Favorite stores? the Tea House in Neal Street, Covent Garden.
Favorite restaurants? I don't really go to them much, and it's way more about who I go with. For much needed stress relief, then, I'm going to say a Slug and Lettuce in Portsmouth - I miss my platonic gay husband. :D
Favorite piece of clothing? Leather jacket and DMs.
2012 All About You:
Did you change at all this year? A lot, yes.
Did you dye your hair? Red, golden auburn and purple.
Did you get your hair cut? I cut the back off myself because I was developing a mullet, but not otherwise. It's not been this long in ages.
Did you change your style? I bought a leather jacket and instantly became a badass. And a werewolf.
Were you in school? I work in one.
Did you have a job? Two. I like the new one SO MUCH BETTER.
Did you drive? Nope.
Did you own a car? I don't see the point of owning a car in London. (YES THAT IS A QUOTE)
Did you lose anyone this year? People always drift in and out of my orbit. I don't think anyone died close to me?
Did anyone close to you give birth? My best friend from college. I'm going to be an aunt this year though!
Did you move at all? Yep. I hope I get to stay here a while, this flat rocks.
Did you go on any vacations? No. THIS IS MY YEAR.
Did you leave the country at all? I probably went to Wales.
2012 Wrap Up:
Was 2012 a good year? It wasn't great over all, but I think a lot of prep work was done for a better 2013.
Do you have any regrets? Not being a good enough friend.
Did 2012 bring any new insights? Loads. How many were assimilated is the key question... I think some of them are on their way there.
Do you think 2013 will top 2012? I hope so. I think so.
Do you have any goals for 2013? A relationship, I think. Or at least the mental state that would allow one.
If you could relive any moment which would you choose? A moment on a train. I'd make a different choice.
If you could forget any moment what would it be? None. I probably learned stuff.
Do you wish 2012 wouldn't end? Fuck no.
Do you plan to do anything special for NYE 2012? Went to White Mischief, had a fucking awesome time. <--- Del's answer can stand 'cos me too. :)
Who will you be kissing at midnight? No. I kissed
apiphile on the cheek after, and I think it was my favourite New Year ever. Not too much alcohol, good friends, good music, and I looked awesome.
