Hi!

Did everyone who was Thanksgivinging have a good Thanksgiving? I've basically been tortured by foodporn everywhere I look these past couple of days, but you know what? I am a simple man of simple tastes and I just had some peanut butter on (gluten free) toast and it was bloomin' delicious.

How are you doing? What were you thankful for?

<333 mine was pretty great, thanks! Spent the day with friends and a ton of food. I ate so many latkes and brussels sprouts.

Peanut butter toast is a wonderful thing and you make excellent food choices. :)

I had a Thanksgivukkah feast and I'm still feeling tortured by all the foodporn. But peanut butter toast is good too, and I had delicious quiche for breakfast. :D

Mine was indeed delightful! It was also more exciting than usual, because the oven abruptly stopped working around noon on Thanksgiving day. At that point, most of the pies had been baked, but the turkey had not. EXCITEMENT. (One thing I am thankful for: a family that reacts to this by facepalming, breaking out the good Talisker for a brief THE OVEN STOPPED WORKING ON THANKSGIVING, I'VE EARNED IT break in my mother's case, and then getting on with the problem-solving instead of adding to the stress with performative dramatics.)

So back in the fridge the turkey went! We ended up making pie, gluten-free cobbler, and baked brie sequentially in the toaster oven, and carving some slices off the raw turkey to cook in a frying pan. The rest of the thing got cooked at the neighbors' place a couple of days later.

(The other excitement: getting a flat tire when I was driving home through slush and snow in the wee hours on Tuesday night. ALWAYS FUN. Thankfully, we had opted for the more town-filled route over the mountains, and thus when we pulled over to check on the tire it was into the parking lot of a convenient motel.)

Another thing I am thankful for: when my cousin who has about a billion dietary restrictions (no dairy, no eggs, no meat, no gluten, no soy) came to Thanksgiving dinner, my family collectively went OOH OKAY A CHALLENGE and made sure she had a bunch of options. I just. It's nice to be able to take for granted that some people won't try to poison their loved ones, you know?

Anyway, I am now back at work (booo) but otherwise doing well!

Peanut butter on toast sounds DELICIOUS, though. (Possibly I am ready for lunch.)
