Poe/Milne mash up oh yeah
Jan. 6th, 2014 08:52 amEvery now and again I write something and then apparently SUPPRESS ALL MEMORY. I just found this while looking for 'Lestrade' in my inbox (there was another little ficlet about him in the meme) and I just... seriously. WTF. XD
Wherever I am, the raven is too
The raven and Pooh and me
Whatever we do our shadow does too
"Can we escape it today?" says Pooh
Yet hard as we try, whatever we do
Our shadows will always number three
That's me, the raven, and Pooh.
It came on a Tuesday, quarter past two
Or perhaps it was nearer to three
Should you open the door without knowing who
Or what you are opening it up to?
The far wisest thing is not to do
But 'wise' has never described me
And certainly never Pooh.
Pooh (who is brave) once told it shoo
Of the raven he'd rather be free,
But a slash of its beak and talons too
And stuffing all over and nothing to do
but break out the thimble and thread that's blue
Along with a shaken unspoken plea
To please be all right, dear Pooh.
"It's all right, Pooh Bear," I whispered to Pooh
"All right," he echoed to me
And I held his paw and ignored the few
Balls of stuffing that grew to a pile, and grew
For sewing was something I never could do...
"I'm not afraid," said Pooh, said he
"I'm never afraid with you."
Wherever I am now, the raven is too
Nevermore from it shall I be free;
Whatever I do, my shadow does too
stretching further than it used to do
Longer and thinner and emptier too
With only the raven beside me
Our shadows that just number two.
Wherever I am, the raven is too
The raven and Pooh and me
Whatever we do our shadow does too
"Can we escape it today?" says Pooh
Yet hard as we try, whatever we do
Our shadows will always number three
