Jan. 25th, 2014 10:06 pmToday I lost about half the work I'd done for my independent study, a 3000 word essay that's due in on Monday. My memory stick crashed massively, and usually I back that shit up but apparently not when I'm in the fortnight of all deadlines. A more sensible me would have done the work slowly and steadily throughout the previous term, I realise this, but. I am not a more sensible me.
No time to cry, Dr Jones, and no time for the adrenaline terror-tremor that took up the first half of the day, either. I am now... mostly prepared to write a 3000 word essay in approximately 18 hours. Mostly. I've spent 14 hours in a computer room today and I've created a weird analysis tool that I'm not sure I can adequately back up using the citations that I have. This is weird for me, usually my experience of education is 'this person said this' and 'that person said that' not, like, 'I made this thing because it made sense at the time based on this stuff'. MY BRAIN does not seem an adequate source.
However, the guy who's supervising me on it is kind of disorganised, so hopefully he'll just give me a good mark for the sake of it! Yay!
(Aaw! He just sent me an email and offered to see if he could screw up the submissions link to give me a little extra time, although he couldn't promise anything).
I kind of feel like a bouncy ball, though. I will not be defeated. So I don't get a distinction on my masters, so what? I'm not looking to stay in academia anyway. And my work experience is rockin' along.
So yeah. I'm fine, it's all good, we'll keep swimming. Now for Castle and then bed, so I can get up early and grab my favourite computer again for the last stretch. (And there's a bottle of wine waiting in the fridge for when I finish, too. :D
