This week I have to show my tutor group an LGBT powerpoint in preparation for Friday's assembly for which we have a trans lady coming in to speak. I wish I could expect it to be anything other than a terrible experience.

(Is that suitable for children? a colleague asked in a horrified whisper. I was on the other side of the room but I just - it's not a sex thing. Does she not get it's not a sex thing?)

I'm tired. I've never worked in such an absurdly paperwork-heavy school before. I'm tired, and I got held hostage by a stupid direct debit and had to pay an admin fee that was emphatically not my fault and I cried and I'm tired. I'll sleep when I'm dead is supposed to be some kind of rebellious statement, right, not just the way a working life dictates your time?

As the mom of a trans kid, I can tell that colleague emphatically that gender and sexuality are two ENTIRELY separate things. Send her my way so I can bash her over the head with that piece of information.

How is your colleague so stupid? You and your tutor group are fabulous. I wish you excess of luck on Friday.

I actually got to the end of my jobs list yesterday (Not that it ever ends, but it was the last of the stuff I could actually do without needing things I haven't got yet or things I need to do with kids first) and had half an hour where I just sat and futzed with the iPad. I don't remember the last time that happened. It was bizarre.

Hang on in there, soldier, it's nearly half term.

*many many hugs*

I am so sorry to hear that, and I wish you could have time to rest because it surely cannot help with the feeling of hardship for everything else .

But for the trans lady coming to speak, i think you are doing a great thing, preparing them for it. your collegues and even the parents of the kdis might not get it, but education has to start somewhere (even for them). Maybe you can invite the collegue to read the powerpoint? Though I can imagine how exhausting it must be to feel you are fighting against the current. *hugs*

I love you. You're right and your colleague is wrong and your kids will appreciate you for it. (Even if not all of them will do that right away.)

It's nearly half term darling. You can do it. *HUG HUG HUG*
