I guess my livejournal must be 13 years old, because Hail to the Thief just started playing and I was viscerally reminded (like a swift kick to the back of the head) how much I listened to this album when I first got a livejournal; how every lyric was layered over Harry Potter fic ideas, how frantically I wrote, how desperately I wanted to please. It's a weirdly nostalgic disorientation, this.

Makes me want to write. :D

I wish my memory was better for internet interactions. I very rarely remember where and when I found people. Do you remember when I found you?

I have the same issue. I know that some people I've known since the beginning (my BTVS days), but others, I'm like, I've known you forever, but ~how did we meet?!!

I know, though! Like, there's a reasonable guess that a lot of people I met through Milliways, but wherever did I discover those people I adore and yet seem to have no fandoms in common with, historically? HOW DID IT HAPPEN?! XD

Hee yes! Face of Joe and its horrible punny name was entirely my idea, and I almost wish Tumblr had been around at the time since it was clearly made for the medium. XD

You used to be in due South fandom, no? I think I was peripherally aware of you then - if it's the same you - but SGA was where you were more than an author to me, if that makes sense. :D

I was in Due South for a short while. About a year. But I was pretty much in a bubble--writing fic and posting about the show on my journal--but not really feeling like part of the fandom. I was definitely part of SGA fandom, so I think I get what you're saying.

Milliways, of course! But I don't remember when I started following your personal LJ, or when we started chatting personally. I remember how I found the game (via strange_selkie, whom I'd friended for saying cool things that got metaquoted), but not how I started talking to a lot of the individual people in it. I know I fangirled your RP writing a good while before we really talked! You were definitely one of the Cool Smart Kids in my head. (You're still cool and smart in my head, but now you're also an AWWWW HI FRIEND person, so.)

The silliness of it all is this: for time and time I've thought - but people mostly liked me because milliways, and people would not like me for lack of milliways. And in all that time it didn't strike me to think that milliways came from my brain, that it was an idea that I had, and all RP therein, that was me too, and that frankly milliways is as good way as any into liking me. I forgot that I didn't just, like, lay claim to it or piggy back on it.

...Brains are very silly. Milliways totally came from your brain. All the rest of us piggybacked, in a way! Anyway, indirectly, most of my closest friendships, the fact that I live in the city I live in, and possibly the fact that I've ever had my stories published comes from the unfoldings of a really cool idea you had. So -- thank you and your nifty ideas for that!

(Lol, I am checking my DW and the first mention of you ever is by Katie in 2008 when she says how you concussed yourself in the shower. STOP CONCUSSING YOURSELF WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?)

I have established we definitely knew each other towards the end of 2009 because we wrote each other fic in the September. I...have no clue how we got to there though. Jeez, brain. Do better.
