Starting to feel a little unemployable.

All job descriptions seem to be 'can you deal with stress? We want to put you under stress. This job involves HELLA STRESS!' Which kinda makes you feel like... we're going wrong as a species?

I can't, by the way. Stress. It makes me crazy. So I'm not sure exactly what to look for, or how much I will need to be paid in order to live.

Any advice how to organise my thoughts, here? XD

Apparently you caught me in pre-caffeine tell someone else how to get their life together because mine is feeling totally bonkers mode. If this feels overly didactic, that's why.

Modified How to Budget and Find a Job:
Step 0-infinity: Keep breathing.
Step 1: Add up your fixed monthly expenses.
Step 2: Stare at discretionary expenses. Wince. Negotiate discretionary expenses with universe.
Step 3: Multiply by 12 in Excel/Google Sheets/Spreadsheet of choice that sucker because math is easier when computers do it all.
Step 4: Find out what jobs are available in that salary band.
Step 5: Hey, fandom, friends, family, who do I know who has [job]? Is it really [hella stressful]? [Where applicable]: Comments are screened & anon is on! I'm not trying to doxx anybody, I promise. I'm just trying to figure out whether I can survive being a [job] after being a teacher, which was killing me with stress. Thanks!
Step 6: Copperbadge & other people have cover letters available. Remember that men apply when they're 50% qualified for jobs, the bastards.
Step 7: Don't forget step 0-infinity while waiting for application/interview process to complete. Kick as much ass as you can.
Step 8: Work. Nice how the hardest one is the shortest.
Step 9: Profit!

I wish I could send you a bunch of supportive hugs/gestures of your choice to go with it for when the simple-to-type steps are, you know, actually devilishly complicated in execution. I'm rooting for you like anything!

There are jobs that expect less more stress endurance than others and jobs that expect less, but it might also be helpful to consider if there's anything you don't find as stressful in the first place as other people. Like, separate from my overall stress tolerance, I find hunting small differences in numbers oddly soothing, so I might find being an accountant less stressful than someone who's frustrated when things don't add up right. (Uh, or possibly not, I don't realyly know what accountants do. But you get the idea.) Meanwhile, after years of customer service, the word "customer" makes my blood pressure shoot into the atmosphere. Anything positive -- have you had any particular tasks that calmed you down at work, is there anything you do at home that calms you down, etc.? Or anything neutral, like not being terrified of phone calls. (A bad example, everyone is terrified of phone calls.)

I hear you-- stress gives me migraines. We absolutely are going wrong as a species on that one.

I agree with shati that some people find certain things stressful and others don't. For example driving is a calm activity for me generally and other people I know get stressed out by it.
