Over on punctuators, there's a little discussion on American vs. British spellings/grammar in Brit based fics.

Got me thinking.

The things that piss me off most in HP fics when they're Americanised... )

Go, read.

[livejournal.com profile] copperbadge is my hero. His characterisation is so spot on!

Well, see, it started out when I decided to name my Ludo pieces. I was yellow and green... Hufflepuff and Slytherin, obviously. Little G was Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. I got one six, very early on, so Draco charged around the board and sat in the Slytherin Common Room on his own for a while. Snape, Crabbe and Goyle were arguing off the board. The Hufflepuffs were in a boat I made for them.

Ravenclaws and Gryffindors covered the board, while there was no activity from the Hufflepuffs or Slytherins. Draco started breakdancing. Crabbe and Goyle were singing a "hungry" song.

Then I attached Malfoy to a stick with an elastic band and he played quidditch by himself until he decided to knock every other player off the board.

G started building a common room for the Slytherins out of boards for board games, and I retaliated by building the shrieking shack out of pick up sticks. The whomping willow was pick up sticks with Slytherins impaled on top.

Then we got bored again. We put pick up sticks in our hair.

=)

I headbutted Crabbe and Goyle early on in the Ludo game. I think it may have caused permanent damage...

GIVE A WRITER A HAPPY, DAY.

I just received one of the nicest pieces of feedback ever. And it was for an X-Files story that I wrote about a year and a half ago. I really really needed it, because my little sis is going through puberty and has been mood swinging all day- it's emotionally draining trying to keep up with her. I've been played with, shouted at, cried on... it's hard work. I was feeling all under appreciated, then this arrives.

The entire Glow Stars universe is one of my favorite M/K stories.

I sent you FB when I first saw it and you replied graciously. I remember that and reread Glow whenever I need inspiration to keep M/K close in my heart and gain impetus to continue writing.

It made me *so* happy.

So go! Find your favourite stories. Feed back to the authors, no matter how long ago they wrote it, no matter whether you've written them before... show them they're appreciated. Give 'em a happy.

This makes everything worthwhile.

I have emails to write.
