Lemme 'splain. No, it is too long. Lemme sum up...

Aunt Marge was exactly as noxious as she should be, and small children were cheering when she inflated and floated out of the window. A small snippet of her in the background, in the skies of Little Whinging, brought to mind the annual hot air balloon festival in Southampton, and cracked me up.

The Knight Bus was AMAZING! Bloody hell- please remember that I haven't seen any of the trailers due to lack of a television, so this was all new to me and it blew me away. The weird Lenny-Henry-shrunken-head thing was... somewhat bizarre, but I'm not going to complain. The speed it moved, and the squeezing between two double deckers... absolute genius, and I was grinning like a loon all the way through that sequence, which was a little long. That's what I'd say about a lot of this film, actually. Some of the scenes seemed overly long, but I suppose that adding more scenes would make the film seem incredibly rushed, something it very narrowly avoided, so I won't complain.

Lupin... I'll never like David Thewlis's voice, and that's the only issue I take with the character. He's not my Lupin, but I never expected him to be, and the Lupin that has been created for the films is an excellent character, genuinely a teacher- and a friend- that I'd like to have. He's firm when he needs to be- I would have felt terrible after the telling off he gives Harry- and he's endearing in his baggy cardigans, walking with a stick after the full moon. I wanted to hug him, I admit.

Fred and George have *finally* become Fred and George. In the first couple of films, in my opinion, they were... well, lame, frankly. Here they're more like people, and I love the fact that they spoke in unison. They seemed more comfortable in front of the camera this time, and I loved them more for it.

Ron and Hermione were frankly adorable in all the little scenes together- and there are a few. Ron is also comedy-sidekick-boy more than ever, and he's genuinely funny, not relying on pulling weird faces to get the laughs. Like the bit in the hospital wing where he's talking about Scabbers. Also... was it just me that predicted an orgy in the Gryffindor boys' dorm? I mean, seriously... if it was pyjama-clad *girls* having a pillow fight...

I digress.

The huge pendulum was fascinating, very PTerry's Death. I loved the scenery in the DADA classroom, and Professor Trelawney's, and the best part of all was the Hogwarts grounds. Like pretty much everything else in the film, the grounds had developed far more of a character, seemed far less like a studio playing a part. It's interesting and pleasing that the directors don't feel bound to stick to what's come before.

Gary Oldman as Sirius was excellent, completely manic, and although some of his lines were swallowed in the random babbling, it fit. For the first time I was genuinely upset about Sirius's death.

Pettigrew was... ratlike. Overly so. And Snape was Snape was Snape, only more so, and *god* that *voice*... *g*

The dementors flew. Hmmm. That's probably the only part that jarred with me; I think I was expecting them to be more like Nazgul, and quite possibly that's *why* they've gone with the look they have- in order not to seem too much like their previous rival.

And Dumbledore? Dumbledore was on drugs. I'm not kidding. He had about two lines that made sense in the entire film. Genius.

Okay, that was a seriously eclectic review, and I've forgotten a million and one things I'm sure. However, know this- it's a fantastic film. And you'll all be seeing it soon enough, and you can squee about it yourselves. And I'll most likely go and see it again soon enough, and squee some more.

To sum up? Malfoy is a big girl.

So... yeah. That is all. *g*

Lucky you!

But what about Dan/Harry? You didn't mention him! In the trailers he looks so much more grown up, and seems to be such a better actor this time around - what did you think?

Daniel-san has matured, totally. He's a much better actor, definitely- he has definite potential. I was impressed at how well he carries the film at such a young age, and I'm really hoping there's life after Harry for him, because if there isn't it would be a serious waste.
