Harry! Or so I hope. Wouldn't it be lovely and twisty if he turned evil? And he could still defeat Voldemort and all, but, well. Evil. But I like happy endings, so Hermione would have to overthrow him and install the Sensible Socialist Republic of Genderneutralmagic.

It has less to do with whether or not I would trust her personally, and more to do with the way that Rowling has set up your perceptions for the Universe. When it comes to good and evil, she usually shows this somehow through their physicality, and she doesn't often set up something quite as complex as a character as Tonks without using it for some other means, and we've yet to see her use her shape shifting ability for anything really other than amusing the kids at the table. So, take the fact that she could look like anybody she wants to, add in a few lines that made me weary (and of course, I can't remember off the top of my head), and - this was the big one - the night that she couldn't take the uncovered shift because she was too tired and wouldn't talk about what it was she was doing, and you've got an order of distrust from me.

I really need to read the book again, I see. Tonks is to me a character that has been redeemed utterly by fanfic. And roleplay, too. She just... she bores me, in OotP. She's got the cool hair and the amazing power and she's respected by the kids but still has a grown up job and she's endearingly clumsy so see not a Mary Sue OMG she has a fault...

Hermione. Dedicated, intelligent, shows definate signs of not listening to others when she believes that she is doing the right thing. Not to mention that there HAS to be something going on with her. I mean, no one is THAT good. Either she's a bit of a slut, or she's evil.

Not to mention she runs circles around everyone else in the damn books.

She is remarkably Voldemort like in her thirst for knowledge, but i think she's changed enough, breaking rules herself now, that she's gettign better. but i also think her convictions show her understanding of good and bad, and that she's happy with herself.

also.. the trio never really get away with things. they break rules, but there's almost always a consequence- steal the car.. broken wand- burling slugs. make a restricted potion... get turned into a cat. .. Voldemort seemed to have gotten away with an awful lot.

i think she'll turn out okay.. i'm a bit worried about Ginny. she's sort of a loose cannon. time will tell.

Richard III in Shakespeare had convictions, so did Hitler. Having convictions and an understanding of 'good and bad' isn't enough. She's stubborn enough, passionate enough, that I think she COULD become rather nasty. COULD being the opperative word there.

She has the Vimesian "Thou shalt not break rules" with the sekrit Vimes corollory, which is "...unless it's me doing the breaking", which, should she become self-righteous and have her moral compass lose track of reality, could be very dangerous.
