Jul. 20th, 2010 07:31 pmWe let the kids loose at the gates of Kew Gardens and then spent the rest of the day running away from them. I mean that literally; there was running and hiding, shortcuts through greenhouses and conservatories and grass-roofed huts, quick double-backs and paranoid over-shoulder glances, faintly hysterical laughter as they fell for a bluff and fell behind. At one point we escaped, left the Gardens entirely and walked along the riverside, taking twenty minutes out before we were back to the kids and the repetitive conversations and the smell of pubescent sweat. It was probably the closest I'll come to a horror movie, and it amused the hell out of me.
Too bad I wanted to kill 'em all on the coach ride home.
