Nov. 22nd, 2004 05:41 amFrom a reading for my course:
The avatar is like a Rorschach inkblot, or the Draw-a-House/Person/Tree Test, or any work of art. It is selected from personal imagination. Consciously or unconsciously, people condense a multitude of meaning into it. They project their personality into it - who they are, who they wish to be, what they fear, what moves them.
So here's an idea. Choose one of your icons, and post it up in your journal. Then ask people to comment with the first thing that comes to mind when they see that icon- whether it's associated with the image, the text, or with the identity/mood they project on you when you're using it, whatever. Free association. See if anything fits.
I'm gonna have to put up my new default, 'cos it makes me happy.

I'm big with the memes tonight. Can you tell I have homework to do? *g*

I like this meme. Shall have to post it, too.

Date: 2004-11-22 05:54 am (UTC)The take it or leave it thing is definitely something I've been trying to cultivate. It started online, certainly, but I've become more confident recently so I'm starting to abide by it in RL as well. It's a good feeling, to know that there are people who like who you are, and that those are the people that actually matter.
