Right, okay. I need to say there was a future where you were mine, and what I've managed to piece together from my two-years-ago French and helpful online places is il y avait un futur où je t’ai eu, which looks dodgy around the edges.

Well, il y avait un futur où je t’ai eu would translate more as 'there was a future where I had had you'. Which... yeah, is technically correct, but is a bit clunky. Likewise for, say, il y avait un futur où je t'avais / je t'eus ('there was a future where I had you'). For a literal translation, I guess you could go with il y avait un futur où tu étais le mien(/la mienne?).
