I want to find out more about the Theban band. Anyone know of anything I can read to find out more?

The Theban band as in the warriors, or the Theban band as in the slashy manip artists?

Definitely the warriors.

I have X-files stuff archived on the artists' page.

Man, memories...

Gah. I'll have to look to get numbers and dates and such, but there was an article on them in Ancient History a few years ago. Hell, I used to have copies of all this stuff. I'll see what I can find again. If I can dig it up, I'll try to photocopy an article I had to get out of a university library. There's some really spectacular stuff, if you can find it.

If you want to learn more about Thebes itself, there's a wonderful book called The Topology of Thebes that covers nothing but its physical layout over several periods. It's extremely academic, but I enjoyed it. Then, I'm a dork.

Any biography on Philip of Macedon ought to have some good starting points and references... let me see what I can dig up. I also have a contemporary sourcebook about Alexander's life, but that might be too late...
