I can't pick just one, so two that are sort of relevant...

"Most of the trouble in the world is caused by people wanting to be important."
-- T. S. Eliot

"I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."
-- Bill Cosby

Hey, no, that is in no way directed towards saying you did a bad job, lady. *feels bad that you took them that way* Completely the opposite. You're doing a fantastic job with Milliways.

My girl and I tried to help run an RP with just thirty people, all of them allowed only one character. It was a madhouse where nobody was at all happy because the other mod was constantly changing rules to suit things a terrible, terrible player did. It got so bad that we (my girl and I) swore off ever playing with a group again. We saw all the wrong things to do in detail and tried and clean up the mess for months before we finally left.

The folks who are fussing at you and the other Milliways mods are the ones those two quotes were pointed at. They're trying to get you to change that huge successful game and its rules just to suit a few people, just like was done in that craptastic RP I was in. There's always going to be a few who aren't happy with the game, and those are inevitably the ones who like to pop up and grab the limelight if they can to cause wankage.

The people who are unhappy with Milliways -- and there's only what, six of them willing to admit who they are? -- are making you feel bad for doing something extremely complex, and doing it well. The biggest RP I was ever in had around a hundred characters in it, eight mods, plus me and a few others getting stuck with modly duties even though we had none of the mod power to plot or mediate or anything. That RP had ten times the problems Milliways does, and was a tenth the size, and was still the best RP I ever participated in. It wasn't the best I've seen... That would be Milliways.

Milliways it supremely well-run as RPs go, and when you factor in that four people are running it, it's mind-boggling. If Milliways needs anything at all, it might need more people willing to step in and let you mods know when you've just got a crappy player on your hands and you need to tell them, "I'm sorry you feel that way, you don't have to play if you don't want to."

It's 100% certain and for sure that Milliways hasn't got any bad mods!

Told you. That's my favorite quote as well, and I use it whenever I can. For they toil not, neither do they bark!
