Looks like I've kinda accidentally returned to this journal. Hunh. How about that.

So. Okay. It looks like, despite my BEST EFFORTS, I have been corrupted to the Way of the Musical.

So far I have all of 'Bounce', a selection from 'Assassins', One Night In Bangkok from. Um. 'Chess'? Heaven On Their Minds from 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. Oh, and Agony from 'Into the Woods'.

Anything else you can rec me?

As an added bonus, if you yousendit any to me, give me a quick sum up of your taste in music and I shall endeavour to find you a matching number of tracks that you'll like from my thoroughly eclectic collection which I shall yousendit you.

Sound fair?

Um. Sorry? *offers tea* ... she has a tendency to do that sort of thing.

As for recs, I may be laughed out of the world for saying how much I like musicals -- but oh well. :)

I will admit that I like things like Lloyd Webber's Phantom and also Les Miserables ("Do You Hear the People Sing" is maybe my favorite there) and anything and everything from Lerner & Lowe's Camelot. Rent is much fun and well worth it, too...

... and I'll stop now.

They're making a recording of my nephew's production of Hair. I'll send that to you when I have it.

You need to get ALL of "Into the Woods" - the whole show is fantastic. But make sure you get the original Broadway cast - there is a version from when Vanessa Williams was in it a couple of years ago and it's not nearly as good as the original.

"Jekyll and Hyde" is also incredible - i got to see the original cast on Broadway and it was an experience i will never forget. The musical is gergeous, lush music and great lyrics. I highly recommend it :D

I unfortunately have no way to upload these, but you won't regret getting them!

You really do need Into The Woods. It's also available on DVD, so I really recommend getting that, and watching the whole musical, as the second act is really more book than lyrics/songs in terms of content. Also, Sunday in the Park With George, which I hereby yousendingit (http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3H5A1WMEJIU183RPNI9BSUM78A) a song from, for you, is also on DVD - so is Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, but it's got Donny Osmond and is vaguely crappy in terms of staging, in comparison to the UK version from the early 90s, so while I do recommend the show and the songs, I don't recommend it on DVD. You can also get the concert recording of Les Miz featuring performers from a number of the international casts, as a video, although the full-form recordings do have every note of the show, so you're not missing much of that if you just listen. And if you want to hear On My Own from the original UK recording, click here (http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=249G6VTZFTKK30F6DQATF0EJIA).
And whatever you do, don't rent the movie-musical of Annie, at least not without a lot of booze. The tv version from a few years ago is much better than the 1982 "thing".

When I get back to my room I will totally post some Rent for you. (Would also post bits of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, but alas, I only have that in movie form, not soundtrack.)

I'm a fan of Les Miserables and The Scarlet Pimpernel. I'd actually send you some of the songs, but I don't actually know... how... *sheepish grin*

Anyway, I'm glad you have begun to like musicals. I've always found them wonderful.

TTFN!

Drive by commenter... Chess is great, try Nobody's Side or Someone Else's Story (I have great love for Judy Kuhn). RENT is my latest broadway love, besides the ones given n another comment I would try One Song Glory, Out Tonight, and La Vie Boheme (although this one is really confusing if you don't know what's going on). Wicked is quite good, although the actual show has no plot or depth to speak of. I like it because I've read the novel and have it as backstory, kind of, while I listen to the show. Have fun, but the musicals will not let you go!! :)

I would recommend Les Miz, Phantom of the Opera(although don't under any circumstances see the movie), Wicked and also Tanz der Vampire... erm, yeah, in German, but very good. There's an English version(Dance of the Vampires)but that was a complete flop and thus there's no official recording of that. But here are some anyway:

Also, I hate to take advantage, but do you have the track from Assasins with the 'and all you have to do is move your little finger' (no idea what it's called)? *puppy eyes*

I have all of Wicked, Into the Woods, Hairspray, and Bare, if you want 'em.

I also have The Secret Garden, but damned if I know where the CD is right now. *sulks*
