Sometimes I totally link to cool things or offer music or write for you, that totally makes up for the times I'm all 'so, you know how you love me...?' right?

...so. You know how you love me?

I would absolutely adore any links you have to English-based macros, comics or other web-related geekeries you can come up with, if possible. I need a quick route to a decorated classroom, which I can then replace with pupil-work-like things as and when.

My appreciation will be huge and all-encompassing...

:D

and other comics.

Maybe a wordle (http://www.wordle.net/) of something?

You mean like "English the discipline" English-based? Or like cat macroes in English?

You are a fabulous grownup! And errr hmm. If you don't mind walls of text, McSweeney's does some good stuff (http://www.mcsweeneys.net/2010/5/11kumar.html). Letters to Santa Written by Shakespeare Characters (http://www.mcsweeneys.net/2009/12/17bicks.html) for instance (though will require editing for profanity.) Catherine and Heathcliff Audition for Twilight. (http://www.mcsweeneys.net/2009/11/20quatro.html) Hamlet: Facebook News Feed Edition. (http://www.mcsweeneys.net/2008/7/30schmelling.html)

OKAY SO I MAY HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW CHILDREN WORK.

Hee! I love the Hamlet! I may well use that one - thanks for the links!

Sorry to butt in, but I found a Facebook page mock-up of the above link as it would look on Shakespeare's Facebook page.

:D?

Slightly higher level geekery, but a bit about all the phrases that Shakespeare is responsible for (from "in a pickle" to "set your teeth on edge"): http://inside.mines.edu/~jamcneil/levinquote.html... I think I have this typed up like the poster (with the phrases all colored). Can send it to you if interested.

A quick web search of "grammar cartoons" or "puncuation" (for example) brings up lots... I especially enjoy this question mark and exclamation point stand-off

I second the idea of Wordles. If you have technology for the kiddos, that'd be an awesome project for them too and insta-student art for the walls!

:o) Congrats on feeling at home in the new job!

If you do have the poster that would be AMAZING. :D And I totally considered googling but I thought there would be SO MANY that I decided to hit you guys up first, as likely to have the most awesome. I already have xkcd examples and dinosaur comics and such...

One I tweeted the other day: http://youtu.be/Vc2aSz9Ficw - insanely catchy melody. Not easily suited to wall-art though.

Random googling found me http://daniellebean.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/cnhverbingweirdslanguage.gif
and
http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/g/grammar.asp (I especially like number 4)

Pity Sherlock's grammar gnome scene (http://lizzymaxia.tumblr.com/post/1002483688/fyeahsherlock-sherlocks-barry-berwick-she) from 1x03 is probably *not* suitable for schoolkids.
