I think the major problem with my fiction is that it's so poorly lit. You can make out the head, and the movement of the hands, you know without question who they are and what they're doing, and the voices that come out of the darkness are undoubtedly them, but expressions and moods are dim and indistinguishable, and the environment is barely there at all.

People in my writing workshops used to say, in a faintly accusatory tone of voice, that my stories were all environment: just endless lists of descriptions adding up to an atmosphere in which nothing was happening. But I say: write what you want to read. If you're more interested in voices, write voices. Not every story has to be everything.

Haha that's exactly how I wrote when I used to write stories.

It's not necessarily a problem. :) It works alright for him

Like everything, it's a question of making it work FOR you and not against you, you know? (I'm probably talking out of my arse here. To be honest I just wanted an excuse to say hi. HI NNY! :D )
