Okay, non!spoiler post! In case anyone wants to talk to me who hasn't read the book yet. And y'know, I'd appreciate it because I'm feeling really dizzy at the moment, and talking things distract me from that, which is definitely good. XD

Yesterday I watched Wimbledon and PotC and PoA. It was fun. I still totally totally love the Thewpin. Baggy-ass trousers and brown cardigans are love, man. There should be more Aziraphale/Lupin.

....WTF HE SAID THAT?!

Cuaron is so more my hero than EVER.

And please to be explaining the lack of pants?

He did indeed say that. In an interview. I do so wish I could find it for you.

It's just... the way he walks. Like, "hah, the viewer can't tell because this is a waist-high shot, but I am not wearing any pants!" *handwavey*

OHGOD I think you have killed me with laugh. That just makes me love him all the more, you realise?

Whatever blows your hair back. I actually really liked Thewlis' rendition, mostly due to the fact that I find him vaguely creepy. Works with the werewolf thing, really.

I was minorly fussed over Oldman's accent - Sirius is pureblood-freaking-royalty - but other than that, the Thewlis/Oldman dynamic was fab. I love Gary Oldman to teensy bits.

Gary was perfectly insane. I loved that Sirius had cracked in Azkaban, it made a lot of sense.

And yes, Sirius is a pureblood, but he's more likely than anyone to try and buck that. I mean, motorbike, Gryffindor, best mates with a werewolf... all he's ever tried to do has been to buck his family, while going about it in a very Black way. I don't know that I'm making any sense because I'm very dizzy. XD What I meant was the accent'll stand, for me.

I love the bit in the shack when Lupin's all slightly scary. And Remus and Sirius were so ace when they were interacting. The relationship was perfect, and the old married couple line still makes me squee loudly.

That was brilliant.

That makes some measure of sense. I still don't think it was quite right, but with that explaination at least I don't feel like smacking anyone. *L*

Scary!Lupin is so cool. Cooler than creepy!Lupin.

Well... it's, like, my brother hates my mother. It's a teen thing, see. And we've always been brought up to speak with an accent that's rather different to those that surround us. I mean, Hampshire is a bit... cheap-rate Estuary London accent, while ours is more... well, posh, for want of a better word.

Because my brother hates my mum, he speaks exaggeratedly Hampshire, pretty much entirely to piss her off, with a small side of trying to distance himself.

That make sense?

Eh, right, I mean it's not like that's something most young boys'd do issit?

*shoots my brother's chav accent dead*

Pre-frickin'-cisely. He doesn't even use words on the phone any more. Just grunts.

I just think there're better ways to disclaim your family than making yourself sound like a wanker. XD

Like... taking up gay porn and transvestitism! :D

Gay porn? Yes. Transvestitsm? Sadly, no. Although my mother has accused me of dressing like a lesbian, which is interesting, since I didn't know there was a dress code. I think life would be considerably easier if there were... fewer faux pas.

My brother? Leeeeeedle bit of a homophobe. Will never tell him unless I have to for fear of being... well, killed.

Ah. A little nastier than my brother, then. Though the sentiment is probably there.

Does he also drive a Golf, have an ear-stud, and listen to really bad music really really loudly?

Date: 2005-07-18 08:47 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] villainny.livejournal.com
No to the earring and the Golf (can't drive, thank god, although when he can I expect RIDICULOUSLY pimped out car with speakers and spoilers and ack ack gold hubcaps or something equally as wanky). Loud music? Oh, yes. Old school drum and bass with squeaky ladysinging.

The happy hardcore is kinda funny, though, if only for the salvia associations. And that time I stayed on the 'net for 28 hours and got a leeeedle cracked out.

My brother hasn't got as far as gold hubcaps. But he does have sub-woofers instead of a proper boot. Still, we've confirmed that we've not got the same brother, at least.

(Is it tipping it down in Hampshire now? I think the drought in Berkshire just ended... :S)

Not a clue, sadly. I'm in Cardiff. I want to go home, but I need a job. And can't afford the train fare...

Yes.

I was raised with a full-on prairie twang (in my defense, the Canadian prairies are a long way off from Texas), but I've managed to flatten it into a completely unremarkable West Coast accent, because the slower you speak, the slower people think you are. So I get that bit. But when I'm stressed, tired, or talking to my father, the accent slips and I start drawling.

So I think that Sirius, who is under a huge amount of stress in that shack, would fall back to what he was raised to sound like. Of course, that's hypothetical, and clearly he didn't, so it's all moot, really.

Well, y'know, it's Gary and not Sirius, is what it comes down to. I doubt he's read the books with quite as analytical an eye as the likes of us. ;)
