My job is just scary. Spent the morning wanting to cry because I had NO IDEA what I was doing, and spent the afternoon dancing around, singing quietly to myself, and puffing air into people's eyes while they flinched.

Er. I was supposed to be doing that, it wasn't just for fun.

Well. They eye thing. The singing and dancing was just a bonus.

And yes. I was singing the Firefly themetune.


I will be back later for more Firefly, after I've had a stir fry and a nap.

I'm an optical assistant in Specsavers. Which means I greet the patients coming in, process their details, pre-test them, meet them after the optician's had a look, help them select frames that suit both them and their prescription, and take their cash. If they have contact lenses, I tell them a little bit about the lenses and, if required, teach them how to put them in, take them out, and store them. I also will be booking appointments on the phone and in person, and sorting out the lenses and suchlike that need to be sent to the patients, and calling the patients that need to come pick stuff up.

I... think that's everything.

Um. This is why currently? My job terrifies me.

Oh hon, I can sympathize. It's crap policy/management to let someone fumble their way through things, and yet it seems like it happens all the time.

Firefly does make things better, though. I ordered the DVDs over amazon (yay for all Joss Whedon projects being discounted), and it made my crap day just a bit better =)

It's a busy store so it's rare they have time to talk me through things - I'm just supposed to pick things up by osmosis, which isn't easy when it's prescriptions and the like.

Ah well. I take comfort in Firefly, which is brilliant, and the fact that someone lovely sent me the gag reel, too. XD
