Breaking miniscule radio silence to beg a favour. 'cos I am a heartless wench and that's how I roll. The title of this post is also the title of a piece of coursework my year 10 munchkins have to write, therefore recommendations would be hugely appreciated of People Wot Rant. So far have Charlie Brooker's Guardian articles, obviously, and David Mitchell's soapbox on youtube. Much appreciated would be any recommendations of good ranters, and interesting media would be even more awesome. Ranty podcasts/youtube vids/articles/TV programs would be awesome, even if only to provide a list of links they can check out in their own time.

Keep in mind, please, that these are 14/15 year olds, and parents may well be present at time of reading/listening/viewing; I've already sniggered my way through reading them an unvetted Brooker column concerning necro-bestiality; that's about as bad as it should get. XD

Thank you ever so kindly!

Would something like Taylor Mali's What Do Teachers Make qualify? I love it, but it's more positive than rant-y.

Denis Leary (early) is my favorite, though his language and much of his subject matter is ... hmmm...actually pretty much on par for me as a fifteen year old, but my parents wouldn't agree, so you may not want to have that fight. Cigarettes and the Croissant/France bit, specifically.

Rick Mercer does wonderful rants - a majority of them involve Canadian political or social issues, but he's still one of the best ranters I've ever seen. You can find them in the Video section of rickmercer.com or on YouTube. As a bonus, aside from the fact that the man is gay, socially liberal, critical of authority, and sarcastic (which will offend quiite enough people already), his rants are pretty much family friendly - I mean, they air on CBC primetime, for crying out loud.

What about Jay Smooth? Some of his rants are delightful.

Mark Kermode's podcasts on the BBC website. Get them to listen to his rants on Pirates of the Carribean and Transformers (he's a film reviewer)

Similar enough, hopefully is Stephen Colbert's "On Notice" Board, a running list of things here.

Apparently there's an image generator where you can make your own Colbert-ian list.

A google of videos will no doubt give you clips and or audio snippets.

Also, this sounds like a very entertaining bit of coursework. :D

Rex Murphy of CBC. He has this really amazing Tim Hortons rant (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibqocMBpQbo) that I love. His segment is called Point of View and you can find it on the CBC website.
