Oct. 18th, 2005 07:23 pmIt's difficult to support someone when you think what they're doing is wrong, and it's difficult when you like them anyway. It's difficult when you think that yeah - it might be for the best that they're punished according to the law, because maybe they'll learn from it - and to still be terrified that they'll do something stupid and not have the chance to learn anything at all. It's difficult when they have a kid, really. Because... how stupid could you be to risk that? And how much worse will the seperation be? Do they deserve that?
All in all, I'm not sure quite how to feel about this. Mostly worried, I guess.

Date: 2005-10-18 03:18 pm (UTC)Am almost afraid to ask what's up with them, this time -- or is it just fallout from previous occasions? Either way, not easy. And I know exactly what you mean. There's a bit of a saving grace inherent in the fact that you needn't pass judgement upon them, because that's for the law to decide. However, your own well-being is at stake as well, and knowing when to be supportive and when to say "enough" is a hard, hard thing.
And it's ten times worse when there's a child involved.
