I agree with the post, too. As someone who's gotten severely bashed because she tried to explain to some US person that no, sometimes we don't understand every single nuance of PC-ness, and it's not because we're stupid, it's just because it's so far away from our culture that we've never even thought of it, and we don't mind thinking about it, it's just going to take us a while to adjust and why yell... yeah. I agree.

Alasdair and I have not been friends for a long time, but on this, and having had to moderate complete hyper-feminist and oversensitive perfectly able people freak out about silly, unintended supposed "insults" I can't help but concur.

Recently, we had someone prat trying to post a reactionary call to attack Moff for not supporting homosexuality on TV in an acceptable enough sense - AND THEN TRY TO LECTURE ME ON HOW LGBT PEOPLE ARE PORTRAYED! - who then turned out to be straight. I, it should be made clear, am not straight; my social group is largely not straight and I live in the queer capital of Europe.

Jesus fucking Christ.

I really would love to shove the PC plackards up the fucking idiots' arses. Sideways.
