I was just taught how to put in and take out contact lenses, and I was very mature and very sensible and a very quick learner. I didn't want to embarrass myself in public.

This is exactly why I held out against contacts for so many, many years. Vanity got me in the end, but if ever something horrible happens (bearing in mind that I still shudder if I touch more eye than lens), I may well shrivel up and die. *whimpers at the thought*
