Of course there was no question about my staying on in rooms with Holmes; his habits were infuriating to a degree it was difficult to believe wasn't calculated, but it was nothing to the intolerable frustration I was certain other living arrangements would bring. Something fundamental in me was now so altered as to make me almost a different man, a man who craved excitement and danger and to bear witness to the impossible mind of Sherlock Holmes, to a degree quite unprecedented with all previous enthusiasms. Who this new iteration of myself was, I wasn't yet sure, however what I was sure of was that I liked him much better.
